Medical Checkup And Pritikin Diet

Today I had my health medical checkup done. Although the overall result is satisfying but I do have a slide rise in my blood sugar level. I really had a long and good talk with the doctor and after discussing his advice to me was to try the Pritikin diet. The doctor told me that the diet is an easy to follow diet as the diet is only eating foods low in fat or no fat at all. And food with low fat are such as fish or you can choose other protein sources such as beans. The doctor also told me that at my age ( early 40s) it is advice to chew all food as much as possible as it helps the digestive system to not overwork and that routine exercise of an hour a day or at least 3 times a week will help.

So I guest am off to start on a new diet program. I hope I can really follow this diet as I really don’t want to catch diabetes as diabetes is very difficult to overcome once you have them. So Pritikin diet here I come.

Me The Handy Man

My wife calls me a “handy man” and I totally agree with her as I like to create things or make things. And I also like to fix broken things and even do some modifying work on things to make them running again or better. Sometimes I think I’m totally in the wrong field kind of job as my work is really the opposite of what I love to do. But my work does put a roof under our head and food on the table. Well I think I should be grateful with what I have now as sometimes you just can’t have it all. Well talking about grateful, I have just finished my repair work on a broken down bird cage. It wasn’t a big repair but just a little touched of here and there kind of repair. The bird care itself was given to me by our neighbor who just moved away recently. I took three weekends working on this bird cage and now it’s up and ready to be us again. And now my twin’s sons are all excited and telling everyone that we’re going to get a pet bird.

Our Pet Cat Name Is Smiling General

A few months back, I picked up a little stray kitten and brought him home. I have always love animals and when I was a young boy I use to have many pets from a cat, fish, turtle, birds and even a few reptiles like an iguana up to a lizard from Africa. So it doesn’t surprise me if later on in my life my children should take the same inters in them.

But it wasn’t later after my marriage and after having four children that I had a pet again. Well it wasn’t my picked actually but of my twin sons that brought a little kitten home after school. And after a little discussion with my wife we decide to keep him and named him ICE. But in this post I’m not writing about ICE (RIP) as it really breaks my heart even writing his name here but rather introduces the little kitten I picked up that night. The twins named him the Smiling General as he seems to always have a smile on his face. He is only about three to four months old that time but now seems to have grown big and strong.

Outing To Taman Safari Indonesia

During a school holiday a few month back, I took my family to Taman Safari Indonesia. It have been a while since our last visit there as the place is so far away and the traffic is always so congested. Sometimes I wonder why the local government does not slightly widen the road to avoid all the traffics jammed as Safari Park is one of the attractions that are popular for domestic as well as foreign tourist.

Oh well enough with my complaints and let's return to Taman Safari. Once we were there we toured the park by car to see the animals that are free to roam like in their natural habitat, and only after that we visited the exhibition venues and attractions on the stage that had been prepared. This is one of the many videos taken by my youngest daughter. She keeps on telling her mother to video this and video that until my wife just handed her the camera to take the video herself.

The Unique Batik

I attended an awesome wedding last weekend and as usual my outfit of choice was a batik shirt. I loved batik not only for its simplicity but also because it suits most if not any occasion.

The art and technique of batik painting have been long brought down from generation to generation as the batik has a special place in Indonesia. There are many kinds of batik, as different place and area have their own batik print style and technique. But every area has one thing in common which are handmade and printed batik.

The handmade batik certainly cost so much more then the printed batik but they do have a special class of their own. Most people choose handmade batik for special occasion like when they are in the spotline or they are the main attraction as most handmade are usually unique. As for me, I only own two handmade batik for now. One was purchased when my elder sister got married and the other one was for my younger brother's wedding as I certainly can’t afford the risk of wearing or looking the same as the guest! ;)
